The company celebrates its silver jubilee (25 years)

Kunststoffexpress Handel GmbH (KX) is currently looking back on 25 years of success! In 1997, Marcus Mahnecke, owner and Managing Director, founded a commercial agency under this name at the location of the company HQ in Bielefeld. Today, the company also has a service and logistics centre with over 5,000 tons of warehouse capacity in nearby Löhne, which came on stream in 2020, and six sales offices, eight additional shipping warehouses with up to 20,000 parking spaces and various home offices in the DACH region.

Over a quarter of a century, the company has grown into one of the ten largest distributors

With 27 employees and a trading volume of more than 50,000 t/a, KX is now one of the ten major distributors in the German-speaking region. The company is divided into the business units Distribution, International Trading, Healthcare, Special Compounds and Reprocessed Products. The portfolio includes polyolefins, styrenics and engineering plastics from global raw material producers, based partly on exclusive supply agreements, compounds from Repsol and Ravago and compounds and recompounds from our own production.

The company has used its dedication and expertise to develop into a valuable partner

Mahnecke adds: From the outset, we used our dedication and expertise to make a substantial contribution to our customers' ability to select and efficiently process the optimal materials for them, and the result is our continuous growth. An example of our high reputation is the vote of confidence from the Spanish company, Repsol Quimica, which awarded us a Germany-wide distribution contract for its polyolefins in the demanding healthcare sector in 2021. With our long-established relationships with our suppliers and customers, we anticipate that KX will maintain its growth trajectory even faced with the current, tense situation in the raw materials sector. For example, we aim to exceed the 60,000-ton mark in the German-speaking countries by 2022. We have set our course, and look forward to the challenges ahead.“

A wide range of new and recycled plastics

In the polyolefin sector, KX's portfolio also includes PE and PP prime grades from the production of Carmel Olefins in Israel, LG Chem and Ducor Petrochemicals in the Netherlands, in addition to the extensive portfolio of products offered by Repsol Quimica. The engineering plastics also come from LG Chem and the Formosa Plastics Corporation (POM). The Kunststoffexpress prime grade range includes PA6, PP compounds, PP, GF and mineral batches, electrically conductive and carbon black compounds. The Kunststoffexpress recompounds range from ABS to PE, PP, PS and PP mineral batches to moisture absorbers. Add to this range flame-retardant, UV stabiliser, anti-static, black, white and colour master batches from Tosaf.

Kunststoffexpress is now one of the major suppliers of recompounds

Besides new products, we have also focused on recycled products for over 20 years. Kunststoffexpress markets over 20,000 tons of recompounds in the ABS, PS, PP and PE product groups annually; this volume corresponds to a saving of more than 35,000 tons of CO2 annually. This makes the company one of the largest suppliers in this sector, and one which makes a significant contribution to environmental protection.

Our trading division uses a network of more than forty producers worldwide in the ABS, PS, PP and PE sectors, Which not only enables customers to access an even broader product portfolio, but also opens up additional growth potential for KX.
